INCREASING CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION OF LOCAL INDUSTRY AND AGRICULTURE PROJECT
KICK OFF MEETING

Within the scope of “Town Twinning-II (Town Twinning for a Green Future) Grant Scheme between Türkey and the EU (TTGS-II)”, our project named “Increasing Climate Change Adaptation of Local Industry and Agriculture”, of which our Municipality is the executor, has started its activities as of 1 November 2023. Our project started its activities with the kick-off meeting.
The kick-off meeting was attended by the public administrative administrative chief, district protocol, President and management of the Association of Academicians Association, Sinop University academicians and Vocational School director, project team, academicians, other project stakeholders and citizens. The program started with a moment of silence and the national anthem on behalf of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms and all our martyrs and veterans who have passed away. Then the opening speeches were made.
The opening speeches were delivered by the Mayor of Türkeli, Mr. It started with the opening speeches of Veysel Şahin.
In his opening speech, Mr. Şahin said: “Today, I am very pleased to be together with you at the opening meeting of the project ‘Increasing Adaptation of Local Industry and Agriculture to Climate Change’. This meaningful project will strengthen municipal capacities to facilitate green economic development by enhancing dialogue between local municipalities.
Today, I am very pleased to be with you at the inaugural meeting of the “Enhancing Adaptation of Local Industry and Agriculture to Climate Change” project. This meaningful project aims to strengthen municipal capacities to facilitate green economic development by enhancing dialogue between local municipalities. As you know, climate change is one of the most important challenges of our time. The effects of global warming are increasing and threatening the whole world. The negative impacts of climate change are also observed in Turkey and Lithuania. Therefore, we need to take steps to adapt to climate change and promote sustainable energy consumption. The project “Increasing Adaptation of Local Industry and Agriculture to Climate Change” will also make an important contribution to increase the adaptation of Türkeli to climate change. Within the scope of the project, a Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) will be prepared for Türkeli Municipality. This plan will set out strategies to reduce Türkeli’s energy consumption and increase the use of renewable energy sources.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all institutions and organizations that have contributed to the implementation of the project “Increasing Adaptation of Local Industry and Agriculture to Climate Change”. I know that we all need to work together for the successful completion of the project. I believe that we will successfully complete this project with your valuable support.

Then the project presentation was made by Dr. Tayfun FINDIK. In his presentation, Fındık talked about the project consortium, project objectives and outputs and activities. In addition, Fındık explained that the project will increase the project capability of Türkeli and that the consortium established will produce very good results in the long term.
The opening speeches continued with the speeches of Prof. Dr. İsmail ŞAHİN, President of the Union of Academicians Association. Prof. Şahin expressed his full belief that the project will be successful and expressed his happiness for being in cooperation with Türkeli Municipality. The program continued with the speech of Türkeli District Governor Safa KAHRAMAN. Mr. Kahraman stated that he had participated in many projects as a student and as an administrator, that he would be working in Türkeli for 2 years and that he would give his best support to the project during this period.
Deputy Mayor of Vilkaviskis Municipality introduced the municipality and its projects. Then the technical and financial details of the project were discussed.During this meeting, the distribution of work was defined and the contracts with the partners were reviewed.It was planned to create a comprehensive project follow-up plan that includes the activities specified in the project proposal. This plan will include rules for the participants to carry out the project safely, taking the necessary measures to avoid any disruption.Important budgetary and administrative issues were also reviewed during the meeting.
