The Purpose of the Project
The project aims to empower local farmers in Edremit and Selva against the impacts of climate change to ensure the economic sustainability of the olive cultivation sector, protect the biodiversity of local olive crops, and increase the adaptation and resilience of local olive cultivation.
Main Activities
- Preparation of Climate Change Modeling Projection
- Preparation of Training Curriculum According to the Results of Climate Change Modelling Projection
- Creation of a three-language (Turkish, English, Spanish) Digital Training Platform
- Study Visits to Edremir and Selva
- Practical Training at Selva
- Preparation of Climate Change Modelling Projections Reports, Training E-book
Expected Outputs
– A long-term (up to 2050) Climate Scenario Analysis was conducted for the olive cultivation sector in Edremit and Selva.
– An online platform was developed where climate change modeling projections, curriculum, and promotional videos documenting sustainable farming practices would be uploaded.
– The e-book “Olive Cultivation in the Age of Climate Change: Future Effects and Adaptation Strategies” was prepared.
