The Purpose of the Project
The project aims to create sustainable structures for the exchange of experience and know-how between Montana Municipality, Bulgaria, and Adıyaman Municipality, Türkiye for the protection of the environment, in particular water and fish.
Main Activities
- Research and analysis of local legislation in both municipalities
- Research on EU legislation and best practices (EU Environmental Acquis, Water Framework Directive, Environmental Quality Standards Directive, Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive, Large Combustion Plants Directive)
- Development of local action plans for the prevention of water pollution for both municipalities
- Conducting joint workshops
- Development of a web-based town-twinning platform
- Organizing training camps for children and teachers
- Development of training modules based on the research and analysis of European legislation and good practices
- Conducting trainings for children and the public in Adıyaman Municipality
- Awareness campaign
Expected Outputs
– Action plans for Montana and Adıyaman Municipalities for the next five years were developed, increasing the dialogue between Turkish and Bulgarian Municipalities and their capacity for climate change actions.
– Awareness was raised among children and young people about the protection of aquatic ecosystems; training modules were developed.
– A web-based platform was developed on town-twinning.
