The Purpose of the Project
The objective of the project is to enhance the dialogue and strengthen the capacities of Tirebolu, Rezekne and Geraci Siculo Municipalities in terms of climate and environment-based actions through town twinning. The project aims to create sustainable structures between the municipalities of Tirebolu, Rezekne, and Geraci Siculo, especially for water harvesting (grey water, rainwater harvesting) and for a stronger fight against floods, heavy rains, and drought.
Main Activities
- Capacity Building: Adaptation know-how and experience sharing (Study visits and workshops, staff exchange on water harvesting, establishment of rainwater harvesting system in Tirebolu Municipality, Cooperation Agreement between Tirebolu, Rezekne, and Geraci Siculo Municipalities)
- Activities to combat and adapt to climate change (Field research, Tirebolu Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Plan)
- Awareness-raising activities (demonstration of rainwater harvesting system to citizens, communication campaign to change the behavior of young people and children, round table meeting)
Expected Outputs
– Sustainable structures were established between the municipalities of Tirebolu, Rezekne and Geraci Siculo to share knowledge on water harvesting (grey water, rainwater harvesting), i.e. sustainable water harvesting systems.
– Tirebolu Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Plan was prepared.
